Happiness & Unhappiness

Dearest Ethan Baby,

Mummy needs to learn that it's okay for you to be unhappy sometimes because it's simply part of life. Swooping in to vanquish your unhappiness may sends the wrong message to you that it's not okay to feel sad or mad. Solving every problem for you may also robs you of the opportunity to work through your feeling on your own. You are beginning to understand more and more of the words you hear, yet your ability to articulate your feelings and needs is limited. Mummy can't assure you that you will always be happy nor can Mummy take away your unhappiness but Mummy assure you that I will walk through with you each unhappy, sad and unpleasant experiences.

Ethan 2nd Birthday Mini Celebration in School on Friday 21 October 2011

Dearest Baby,

Times flies!! You were an infant two years ago but you are two years old now. It is the first time that you are celebrating your birthday in school. Mummy planned for a Disney Cars theme for your birthday and it seems that you prefer Mickey Mouse more than Cars. =( Mummy hopes that you still enjoy your mini birthday celebration in school though you was still feeling sick on this day. Mummy wishes you speedy recovery.

Why are you Sick AGAIN, Baby?

Dearest Ethan Baby,

Why are you sick again, baby? You have just recovered from one week of sick leaves one week ago and you are sick again. You coughs so badly this time till Mummy's heart feels so pain. I wish I can cough on your behalf or I wish I have a magic wand to stop your coughing. You were having fever for two days again. Daddy and Mummy took turns to take care of you and wish you will feel better with us around. Ethan Baby, Mummy just hopes that you will recover

soon and be a healthy boy.

The Singlish Dilemma

Dearest Ethan Baby,

Mummy cringe every time when I hear you speak Singlish. Mummy feels guilty

because I know that you learnt most of it from me. Mummy is making every effort now to speak proper English more consciously. It is a challenge for Mummy because I am not growing up in an English speaking family. Gong Gong and Po Po does not speak in English. Mummy wants to learn to effectively use both languages, Singlish and proper English to build relationships under appropriate circumstances. May you benefit more from the way Mummy speaks. =)

Ethan is VERY Sick

Dearest Ethan Baby,

I hope that it is not Mummy who passes you the virus. You are sick, too 2 days later after Mummy is sick. It is the first time that you did not attend school for one whole week. Mummy have not seen you being so sick, weak and moody for such a long time. You used to be still so active when you was sick the previous time. Mummy can't take care of you much this time because I am sick myself. Luckily Daddy is around to take care of us. Baby, stay healthy to enjoy life.

Mummy is VERY Sick

Dearest Ethan Baby,

Mummy starts to fall sick after I start to work full time again. Mummy was so sick this time that I can only sleep and sleep for the whole day for a few days. Baby, sorry that Mummy can't bring you to your school carnival and can't join you and Daddy for the Family Day in Downtown East. I heard from Daddy that you enjoy yourself very much with Jordan and the two JieJies. Mummy is going to take good care of myself so that I can enjoy my precious time with you, Baby! Mummy don't want to spend any days without you. =)

Ethan Refers Himself by His Name, "Than Than".... =)

Dearest Ethan Baby,

Mummy starts to realize that you started referring to yourself by your name. You can't pronounce Ethan yet so you refer to yourself as "Than Than". This is such an important clue that you fully understands that you are a separate person from Daddy and Mummy. Mummy hopes to seize more opportunities to help build up your self-confidence

by praising you for specific individual achievements. =)
